A. OBJECTIVES

The course aims to introduce students to the project activity; to provide the tools the choice of references and possible alternatives; to temper the ability of synthesis of instances compositive, structural, functional. Outcome will be the presentation of a project for a dépandance of a masterpiece of domestic architecture.

B. CONTENT

The complex nature of architecture, constantly on the search for balance between firmitas utilitas and venustas, is expressed through the design, synthesis of choices.

The theme of the house, approached through a corpus of lectures centered on the reading and comparison of known references, allow it to decline specific issues: the type; the relationship with the context; the relationship with history, form / function, the structural and technical issues.

Also through the examples, architectural elements as themes will be highlighted - the threshold, the court, the scale, the coverage, the angle – and tested through the project.

C. STRUCTURE

The course is divided into theoretical lessons and project activities to be carried out in the classroom. The theoretical lessons will address two orders of complementary subjects: the techniques of making and the theories of composing. The project activity will be carried out in the form of ex tempore exercises - aimed at experimenting with specific themes of the composition - and of a design exercise in synthesis of the issues dealt with that will deal with the theme of the housing.

D. METHOD 'OF CONDUCT OF REVIEW

The exam consists in the presentation of the project of a terraced house. The student will demonstrate the coherence of the choices, the awareness of the projected themes and the different disciplines involved. of All necessary drawings to describe the project have to be edited: planovolumetrico, plants at different altitudes, elevations and sections, three-dimensional representation and model.
